I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to help others with their business ideals. With running a business, I’ve been able to gather some pretty interesting insights and I’m truly glad to offer help to others to help them avoid the same pitfalls.

One thing that I encounter as a problem quite often is when people just don’t seem to be making headway in their career. They are usually frustrated and annoyed because things are not working as planned. A lot of the time, this is more of an issue of clear direction then anything else. Let me explain.

I’ve discovered when I become laser focused on a job or a project, I can accomplish quite a bit in record time. This is normally when I do the most learning, doing and earning. But it does require this extreme focus. Nothing can get in your way. This sort of behavior is also great in seeing results quickly too. Which in turn motivates the doer even more.

Let’s look at the other side of this, when someone is complaining about having little or no success. Analyze the list and tell me which are you guilty of?

Doing Work For Work’s Sake

This is a great catch phrase coined by Timothy Ferris, the author of The 4 Hour Work Week. He states that we will do things that are technically ‘work’ but don’t really help you get to your goal. A good example of this is checking email several times per day. I know I can easily waste two or three hours per day dealing with email.

Now that’s a time waster. And I’m thinking that I’m pretty busy – but really I’m not. I’m wasting time on things that don’t help me get the desired results.

Another great example of this is designating work to others. In today’s day of the Internet, there’s no excuse to do $5 per hour work when you can get a great virtual assistant to do it for you. You have to make your time worth $100, $500 or maybe even $1,000 per hour. If you find that you are completing tasks that are $5/hour tasks, you are wasting time.

You could argue that it will cost money! I personally would rather spend $5 per hour for someone’s help then to loose $95 per hour because I’m doing it all myself!

No Clear Business Plan

Everyone touts that you need a business plan. And you do!! Just because you have a great idea doesn’t mean that it will be a great idea to everyone else. If you have an idea, test the market first before wasting a lot of time and money. As a matter of fact, my most profitable ideas have been from others.

For example, I was helping people on a forum on how to use two pieces of keyword research software. It didn’t take more then a month for someone to tell me, if I ever built this into a course, he’d buy it. I listened and compiled all my notes and made a three hour training video series illustrating all of my concepts.

It took all of two days to make the product and market it. After four weeks of sales, I sold more then $4,000 worth of instructional videos. Guessing I spent maybe 12 hours on the project in total, I made $333 per hour for my efforts!

Next I built another video course that took me two weeks to build and several hundred dollars of expense. But it wasn’t a tested product. I ‘thought’ that it would be well received. Well, I sold exactly $37 – one customer. That stung. But it also taught me a great lesson. Find the pond with the fish before casting your fishing rod.

Have no clear business plan does go beyond this initial point. What are you ending up with is critical, but how are you going to get there? What time and funding will you need? Is the market big enough to even bother with this idea? Do you really know what your customer is looking for in your product?

These questions can easily get flushed out by listening to others. But you have to answer these questions before you take the time to move forward. The small amount of time you spend building a good plan is well worth the time that you could waste if you don’t.

No Staying Power

If you find that you drop an idea before making it profitable, then you may have a short attention span. This is something that I’m guilty of. I have to have a plan as I mentioned above to stay on task and keep going even if I’m not seeing the results yet.

It’s very important to stay focused on your goals – and have mini-goals along the way as you work towards your success. If you let distraction sink in, you’ll be starting something else that is new and shiny – before profiting from your current efforts.

Know right now that anything worthwhile will take years to really come into long term profits. If you are looking for a fast results business idea, you may be very disappointed. If I had a dollar for every time someone tells me that something doesn’t work, I’d be rich. The funny thing is that most things do work, they just take time.

Getting Wise Counsel

I added this to this list because to me, if you are trying to figure out everything, you are truly a fool. Sorry to be blunt, but it is true. Seek counsel in all things so you can move forward as quickly as possible. You may not follow all the advice given, that’s your choice, but do seek counsel. One of the primary reasons that Henry Ford was so successful was not because he was brilliant. It was because he wasn’t afraid to get the counsel and help he needed to move his ideas forward.

Getting wise counsel does have some caveats though. Be sure you ask a baker how to make good bread, not a butcher. In other words, be sure that the counsel you seek in an area comes from someone who really knows that they are talking about. Next, make sure you seek counsel from someone who IS successful in the area you are asking them about.

Why would you ask someone who is mediocre about a particular topic when you can ask someone who is excellent in the same topic. I’m sure the advice given will be night and day. There’s good advice and there’s great advice. You always want great advice.

Finally, you must always filter advice through your goal’s filter. If you do the thing recommended, will it keep you on track or even speed things up? Or will it cause you to be de-railed for a period of time. There are times when you have to back up to go forward but always be careful when the advice doesn’t line up with the end goal.

Expecting Others To Build Your Success

Probably the number one things that does frustrate me more then anything else is when someone believes that success hinges on another person. Let me give you an example of this. Some time back I offered to help someone with a bit of the web design part of their business. I did get a bit overloaded at the time by paying clients and I had to put this favor on the back burner.

It probably took about two weeks but this person came to me and blamed me for holding them back! Sorry – wrong again. Yes, what I promised wasn’t yet completed, but it really didn’t add to the bottom line. It did help – in the long term but in the short term, not at all. This person had to start prospecting for clients in their business and got stuck because the web site wasn’t a 100%.

Think of this another way. Let’s say you need to line up appointments to meet with people to tell them about your business or product. Would you wait two weeks to get business cards from the printer before you head out? No! The business card isn’t the sale, the prospecting is.

Another example I can offer you is I had a young man approach me with a great idea in the financial sector. We talked about it and came to an agreement that I could offer the technology side and he could offer the financial smarts side. But again it required him to get out and start pounding the pavement.

After about six weeks, he approached me and was upset that things were not progressing. But the parts I was to do, were completed. He was upset because he was terrified to prospect. He wanted me to prospect clients instead! Being I have no financial smarts in his idea, or little at best, I was totally unqualified to prospect for him.

At the end of the day, if you feel someone is holding you back, then get a new someone. And please don’t expect the moon and the stars if someone is helping you for free. If you need an employee, or virtual assistant, then hire one. You will not be sorry in the long run.

Wrapping It Up

To be honest, I could go on and on with this topic. But it always comes down to these fine points. Make sure you have a marketable product/service that you can afford to bring to the market in a timely manner. Be ready to find your prospects and be sure to engage the manpower or brain power as you need it.

To your success!

I hate to open with such a blatant title, but since I made the decision to move the blog into a more of an open life project, I just nothing can really be hidden.

I wanted to write this post to you to give you some perspective on life. There are times when life is really going good – like a carnival ride with your sweet heart that you just don’t want to have stop. But there are times when you just want to crawl into a corner and say – I’m done. I have to tell you that my family and I have had exactly all of this happen in the past year.

I was diagnosed with a pretty common cancer called Lymphoma. The long and short of it is that the b-cells in the body that do things like create white blood cells kind of go a bit goofy and they don’t die. They just will collect. Normally with lymphoma, they will collect in the lymph node system. Well, I know that I’ve had this for about a year or so, but early in the year it did something called Transformed Lymphoma.

What happened is that the lymphoma decided to start growing much faster and in other places – outside the lymph nodes. My doctor gave me the jolly news that chemotherapy was called for immediately. I’ve already had one treatment about 10 days back and it’s working wonders but right after the treatment – I wanted to die. I never knew that I could feel so bad.

For the first two or three days after – sleep was my best friend. And a hard friend to find. With these drugs in my system I was feeling like I was being turned inside out. But the results have been short of miraculous. The one lump that I can see in my neck when from being a pretty big 3-4 cm lump to basically normal.

This has been one of those life sucks and life is great moments. Life sucks when you take the treatment but life is great when you get over the symptoms and start to see the results.

I want you to know that life is going to throw some pretty cooky stuff at you at the best of times and you are going to be totally dumbfounded. And I can tell you too if you just decide to make it through, you will. I could have decided after the treatment to be done with it. Life is so bad that I just don’t want to play anymore. I had to look at the long term.

I promised my 11 year old daughter to walk her down the aisle one day on her wedding day. She can deal with the black and white of that statement at 11. I had to focus on that promise during those first few days. It was my anchor in the storm. You know how I remembered that promise? She came to me while I was very sick and asked me if I was still going to walk her down the aisle.

Through the nausea and the pain I gritted my teeth and told her “You better believe it!!!”

I don’t know where you are, but remember not all of life works out like a fairy tale – but maybe – with faith, love and hope, you will live happily ever after.

Keyword research is critical to perform before you do anything else to establish a presence with a web site on a specific topic. Where you market online or offline, this critical starter can make or break your efforts to market you, your services or products.

What is Keyword Research?

Before digging deep in the topic of keyword research, let’s cover together exactly what it is. There will be common phrases that you’ll hear, keyword phrases, to describe a particular topic. For example, if I was talking about getting my web site ranked better in Google or Yahoo, I’d coin the keyword phrase ‘search engine optimization’.

So keyword research is the task of discovering what a majority of people, or at least enough people say when discussing a particular topic. The actual quantity of people making mention of a particular keyword phrase is normally translated into the number of people who may also put that into a search engine to query the search engine on that topic. So, its safe to say that if you want to get your web site ranked higher, you may type the keyword phrase ‘search engine optimization’ into a search engine and search for results.

When performing keyword research, we will want to find a minimum number of searches on a particular keyword phrase. For example, if only 10 people per day searched for the keyword phrase, ‘google engine optimization’ but 1,000 people searched ‘search engine optimization’, then it would seem prudent to focus on the second phrase in comparison to the first.

Keyword Research – Qualifying High Volume Keywords

Keyword research does go much deeper though. If you are selling a product or service, you’ll want to find keywords that are keywords that may hint at some sort of action that commits to a sale. For example, ‘search engine optimization’ may be a buying keyword, but ‘search engine optimization company’ is a much stronger buying keyword.

Plus, you will want to find high volume keywords that you can actually get your web site ranked for within the first or second page of the search engines. This requires another level of keyword research to determine if you should actually attempt to do the hard work for the keyword.

This is one place in keyword research where the lines do get a bit muddy. You see, the search engines may offer hints to what they deem important when ranking web sites for keywords but they don’t come right out and tell us. Regardless of what is said, it’s important to discover what set of criteria is important when ascertaining the level of competition for a keyword phrase.

Personally, I’ll look at two major factors when deciding where or not to compete for a keyword phrase when doing keyword research. First will be the actual sites that I find in the top 10 spots of Google. For example, if I find the pages are loosely tied to the keyword, regardless of how popular the sites may be, I may consider trying to rank for that keyword.

Next, I look pretty deeply at the number of back links that have been created for the sites in the top 10. If I feel that there is a lot of keywords pointing to the keyword phrase in question, I may go looking for greener pastures.

In conclusion, if you decide to approach a particular niche to become a ranked and profitable web site within that niche, your very first step to success is taking the time and doing some good keyword research.

Yesterday we started to look at hard proof on the Google Panda Update and what it means to us as web marketers. Today, I’ll be completing my final thoughts in regards to the Panda and how it’s affecting us in other aspects.

Google Panda Update – Duplicate Content

Now, if you line up ten people who do SEO work and ask them about ‘duplicate content’ I can promise you that you’ll find no duplicate content between the answers! There’s a lot of speculation on this front, but let me tell you the truth – from fact.

I run several web sites that syndicate freely available information on my sites and yes I did see a hit to the rankings of these sites. Some of these sites were seeing well into 1,000 unique visitors per day and after the Google Panda update, these same sites are only seeing about 400 unique visitors per day.

So there has been a hit to sites posting duplicate content.

On the other side of the coin, sites that are comprised of strictly unique content and are topic specific are doing very well since the Google Panda update. As a full disclosure, there are other facts involved but the general sense that I’ve seen is that sites that are topic specific that have good original content are doing much better.

Google Panda Update – Miscellaneous Points

Another point that I’d like to mention in regards to the google Panda update is that Google is placing more importance to on-page SEO. That the task of ensuring that you follow best practices for a web page to be focused to a keyword phrase.

You don’t have to go as far as latent semantic indexing – using several like related keywords to give the article more credibility. It helps but it isn’t necessary. You do have to follow good on page seo practices though. Where it used to weigh possibly to 10% of the overall ranking formula, I’m of the belief that we are now talking closer to 30%. So it is significant, in my opinion.

So what does the future hold for us in regards to the Google Panda update? Well, I think that we’ve really only begun to see the tip of the iceberg on this one. Google is throwing some serious cash at server power and it really is only a matter of time before they become a seriously good ranking engine for web searchers.

Ah, but time will tell. If you’d like to discuss the Panda and what it means to your site, please do leave a comment below. Thanks for reading about the Google Panda Update!

There’s been quite a stir in the online world of web sites since the Google Panda update. I liken it almost to the Chicken Little story of ‘the sky is falling, the sky is falling’!

The Google Panda update is more of a series of updates then a single update. It first started to be deployed early in 2011. As of now we’ve probably seen most of the effects it has caused. In today’s article I want to take a real look at real situations and stay away from idle speculation.

Here’s the info I found regarding the Google Panda Update on wikipedia. Yep, pretty thin.

First and foremost, the Google Panda update has really changed the game in a few key areas:

Quality of sites

Quality of back links

Ranking duplicate content

Google Panda Update – Quality of Sites

Google did a really good thing when it made changes to its algorithm to favor some sites over others. This change in some ways is a tad unfair but in other ways it really was what was needed. The whole idea behind this change was to favor sites that are very topic specific and penalize sites that are topic general.

What is not fair about the Google Panda update is the fact that Google is manually weighing some sites as strong, general sites as authority sites. But then Google decides that others general sites are not authority sites, thus not getting the preferred ranking favor of Google.

Sites like EzineArticles.com took a very big hit in the search engine rankings. This truly was an unfair blow to Ezine as they have always been absolutely strict to only publishing original content. In my opinion, they are the most strict with Google News site only being more strict. So, I’m not sure what’s going on there.

Other sites such as Amazon or Wikipedia on the other hand, haven’t seen anything but search engine gains since the Google Panda update.

Google Panda Update – Quality of Back Links

Well, the truth is out. The voting system for ranking in the search engines is the number of back links pointing to a web site. Spammers learnt this lesson quickly and well. With the latest Google Panda update, Google now is weighing easy to gain, spammy back links with much less ‘quality’ weighting in comparison to other forms of back links.

In late 2010 and early 2011, you could use tools to create quick and dirty forum profiles with a keyword rich back link to your site and it was weighted with much more authority since post Panda. Also sites that used this method pretty much exclusively saw their rankings dissappear of the past six month since the first part of the Google Panda update started.

Other types of back linking have gained more weight in this update too – ah but you need to figure them out yourself!

Corporate seo services can be bit different than standard seo practices that you’ll normally find advertised on the web. Whenever you are performing search engine optimization services for a public company or a corporation you always have to be very aware of the fact that would’ve you do leaves an impression about the company behind you.

Nothing will be worse than to have a bad corporate seo services company perform search engine optimization services and a spamming or black hat fashion and leave a negative feeling. It’s much harder to fix ones reputation when this occurs than to do it correctly the first time.

Plus when doing corporate seo, consider the fact that reputation management services to fix damaging posts normally cost three or four times the amount of just standard corporate seo services.

Corporate seo – Stay Away From Bad Providers

So how can you watch out for the wrong service provider? In today’s day and age, that is actually getting harder and harder to do. Tools that make spamming the Internet are available by the hundreds. I’d actually recommend that you see if they have any test cases that they can show you on work that they’ve done.

In a lot of situations, and I can relate to this particular situation, it’s really tough because most company want to sign a nondisclosure agreement with you as a corporate seo provider. I’m of the belief that you just need to sit down and talk to prospective service providers.

In a lot of cases as you talk to them you’ll get a gut feeling to whether or not they are the right person to work with. If anything allow them to perform a small campaign for you on something that is not life-threatening to your corporation.

Corporate seo Service Provider Checkup

If they conform that campaign effectively and efficiently than maybe allow them to go to the next step. Once they finish the first campaign, get a reputation manager that really knows how to investigate a website and get them to take a look at what you asked them to do.

They’ll be able to tell you with a bit of investigation whether or not the campaign that they perform for you could be damaging to your reputation going forward. So initially when you start working with somebody new it is a bit tricky. I wish I could tell you that most of the people who perform corporate seo services do the right way but unfortunately that is not the fact. From my experience I find that most of them do not.

If you’re looking to perform some corporate seo services of your own do yourself a favor and ensure that you are on all the major social networks. This includes Google plus, linked in, twitter, and Facebook. Building a strong brand between these social networks is a good start when you consider corporate seo.

Search engine marketing consulting – who do you trust? Just about everyday, you’ll find that you get another three emails from ‘experts’ who can rank your web site through the black art of search engine optimization.

There are a lot of ways to perform search engine marketing consulting, but very few that actually work. Also what is your objective? Do you want to get a page or web site ranked well in the search engines or do you want to dominate the search engine rankings for your business name? Both need different forms of optimization.

The real danger is you really don’t know if their techniques are tried and true. Some do work and some don’t. Think snake oil. I may sound a bit critical, but I’ve questioned a few of these people and the techniques that they use are a bit shakey.

You need to find someone performing search engine marketing consulting that is a combination method. Here’s my recommendations if you are looking to find someone in search engine marketing consulting.

Search Engine Marketing Consulting – The Questions To Ask

First and foremost, make sure that the search engine marketing consulting company you decide to hire isn’t using spammy or questionable search engine marketing practices. This is a long term recipe for throwing money away and potentially getting your site de-indexed by the search engines.

Next, ask them if they are using methods that are favorable to the latest algorithm changes with the search engines. Since most of your traffic is probably going to come from Google, ask them about the latest Google updates. If they immediately say that their techniques work, ask them if they happen to be using forum profile spamming. You’ll be amazed at how many still do. This is a technique that was quite powerful, though very spammy about a year ago. This technique is virtually worthless now.

Does the search engine marketing consulting company you are looking at provide you with a battle plan? In other words, do they show you what they will be doing to take things to the next step? They will have some parts of their technique that they will want to keep private, but if they won’t disclose anything, you would serve yourself better by moving on.

Next, if they have a battle plan, do they use three or more methods to boost your rankings? With the latest search engine algorithms, variety in style means a lot more long term success.

Finally, is the search engine marketing consulting company going to get you some quick wins? Then provide you with long term strategies?

Again, like any plan, this is critical. You don’t want an unscrupulous search engine marketing consulting company causing more damage than good.

Search Engine Marketing Consulting – Take Your Time

I think the best recommendation that I can give you in regards to search engine marketing consulting companies is to take your time. Like the snake oil vendors of the old time wild west, they promise the world and give you a bottle of stinky water.

Oh, and if the price seems too good to be true – it isn’t. They may be dangerous to your long term rankings by using their services. Being a search engine marketing consulting company, I know what it takes, how much it costs and how long it takes to obtain solid, long term rankings for corporate clients. I hope that this helps you when you receive an email on search engine marketing consulting.

Social media marketing has become a huge buzz word for business in the 21st century. With all of the current advertising efforts just not working as well as they once did, businesses are flocking to the Internet with high hopes and fat wallets to cash in on social marketing.

The whole idea is finding the customer right were they are looking for the information that you may be selling. This is very intelligent as you can sell directly to your target audience without the added expense of marketing to the other 99% that have no desire to purchase your product or service.

This is also one of the main reasons that these social media platforms have taken off. Just look at Facebook for a good example. They can sell advertising at a premium because of the fact that they have built sophisticated algorithms that targets advertising to location and/or topic.

Social media marketing, being so big has also caused a lot of confusion to many businesses too. What is the best way to spend those advertising dollars? That’s a loaded question. But let’s take a look at what you needs may be and then build you a plan.

Social Media Marketing – Your Time Frame

If you have a limited amount of time to get your message out then paying for social media marketing is the way to go. Literally within 1/2 of one hour, you could have the word going out. I’d personally recommend taking a little more time to qualify your paid social media marketing, but it can be that quick.

This is a very good method if you have the right budget for it. Don’t be surprised when you don’t properly analyze your paid social media marketing campaign and find that you are paying several dollars per visitor. I’ve personally done several pay per click campaigns and I can tell you that it is like a stick of dynamite.

It’s very good for moving a big rock very fast, but if your wick is too short, you’ll blow off your hand at the same time! Overall though, it is the fastest way to get the word out. I’ve sold books that were published to e-print within days of completion. This isn’t possible with any other advertising medium with the exception of widespread offline advertising.

A very big disadvantage of paid social media marketing is the fact that it’s is something that I call bird cage advertising. Like conventional newspaper advertising, it’s really only effective as long as the ad keeps showing up. The day you stop advertising, that could be the end of the profits too. So you are not building any lasting effect on the web.

Social Media Marketing – Patience and Good SEO

The second form of social media marketing is posting to many social media platforms. You will at times get some pretty fast wins but most of the time, you have to spend from one or two months to up to one year to get the ball really rolling on your social media marketing campaign. The great thing about this form of marketing though, is once the ball is rolling, it keeps rolling.

You’ll find that your efforts from yesterday keep paying you today and tomorrow. The momentum takes time to build and will be different from market to market, but the overall effect is the same.

With professional assistance, you can build a lot of great brand awareness for your product pretty quickly though.

Another nice side affect of this type of social media marketing is the fact that once you get your brand to a desired level of market penetration, it takes very little to keep it there. And it’s very hard for your competition to kick you out once you’ve properly rooted yourself in place within the search engine rankings.

The disadvantage of this form of social media marketing is time. If you don’t have 3 to 6 month to wait, then this isn’t the way to go – at least in the short term.

Social Media Marketing – Blending the Two

Here’s where you’ll find a lot of power. If you want the short term win with the long term gain, then consider a properly constructed pay for social media marketing campaign coupled with posting to social media platforms. With the right plan, you can do quite a bit. Within hours you can start generating sales and while this part is creating profits, move those profits to the manual posting of social media marketing to give you long term bang.

1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The convergence of retail and community building online has become known as “social networking”. This online phenomenon is spreading across the globe. Nearly all internet users are being engaged in some aspect of this online activity. It ranges from social shopping, networking to community building.

2.0 SEARCH ENGINE OVERVIEW

In light of the rapidly growing phenomenon termed social networking, the ultimate goal of search engines is to adopt a risk management program that will enhance the customer experience; to create repeat sales and enthusiastic word-of-mouth referrals. To accomplish this, an effective program has to be driven by the organization’s business operating environment. An organization has to maintain an environment that meets:

- Customer’s expectations.

- Operational business needs

An organization is challenged with the on-going need to focus on, evaluate and improve each of its functional services.

2.1 Keywork Search Optimization

Some online loyalty programs operate as a means to simply encourage customers to stick with a particular brand. Other programs encourage customers to throw more business towards a company, by establishing tiers. They use incentive programs that offer greater rewards for increased levels of spending.

The leading search engine is positioned on top of the evolving web mosaic. Their unique positioning allows the search engine to maintain its competitive advantage by:

- Monitoring any area of growth

- Acquiring the first position for any area they want to compete in.

To maintain their position, the leading search engines adopt a marketing strategy which has the flexibility to reposition them in the marketplace when deemed necessary. If the organization is uncertain of their competitive positioning, they have on occasion listed their services alongside a couple of other competitors. Often they have demonstrated they will maintain this positioning until their internal stats show their product is superior. The leader in the industry has mastered the concept that offering free exposure along with free benchmarking equates to great advantages.

3.0 SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION

3.1 Keyword Tools

To optimize search engine keywords (SEO) There are many free or low-cost keyword tools one can use within the social networking environment. The search engine Google for example uses the AdWords keyword tool as a focus of its innovative business models. Adwords is associated with the pay per click concept. Adwords is still one of Google’s main sources of revenues.

A percentage of business owners that want to make money online are taking advantage of innovative internet marketing strategies and internet advertising. Businesses that use Google AdSense ads for instance make money online on the front end, and by writing articles on the back end.

Google AdSense is positioned to allow advertisers to get both targeted traffic and sales, – but so is everyone else. However, by writing articles, the Internet marketers who incorporate Google AdSense, can also make more money online, if done properly with this internet marketing strategy.

3.2 Keyword Positioning Strategies

The objective of applying key word search techniques is to meet client needs with minimal effort. This equates to higher profits, better budgeting and a faster return on investment. It is accomplished by managing the web site’s traffic relative to the investment output. The impact of the key word searches, is measured by the competitiveness of the data used as well as the popularity of the applied data. The right competitive mix of keyword search usage allows the search engine to be optimized; to measure the traffic on investment of any keywords.

3.3 Search Engine Optimization

To optimize the search engine performance, one has to take into account certain factors. For example, one has to equate a webmaster’s degree of intent to compete. They also have to mitigate any obstacle that may impede the ranking for a targeted keyword

Other factors to take into account include:

- data integrity

- impact of automated searches

- manipulation of data collected by search engines

- relativity and consistency

- seasonal data

- private keyword sources

4.0 SEO OPTIMIZATION STRATEGIES

4.1 Effective Online Search Marketing

Effective search engine marketing is an ongoing qualified measurement and improvement program. Such a program has to constantly scrutinize the statistical data being collected to optimize the search engine marketing campaign. Adjustments have to be made regularly for the highest possible return on investment.

A reliable internet online marketing experience is mandatory to provide services such as:

- Building professional, search engine friendly web sites

- Making the best presentation of your company to potential clients

- Branding in the global marketplace

- Structuring paid search marketing campaigns

- Designing landing pages that convert to leads

- Creating dynamic web content

- Providing measurable results

The goal of keyword researches is to obtain search volume estimates. This is essential to maximize search engine optimization. An organization wants to make sure their online subscribers are expanding their efforts on the most leveraged keywords. Usually these are the keywords or terms with the most searches.

4.2 Maximizing Return in Investment

To maximize the return on your investment, one has to closely monitor certain keyword search variables.

4.2.1 Keyword Matches

Keyword searches are impacted by:

- Total Matches

- Exact Matches

- InURL Matches

- InAnchor Matches

- InTitle matches

- inText Matches

4.2.2 Page Links

The strength of a site’s inbound links is related to the page ranking applied by the search engine. To determine the strength of the inbound links in relation to its derived page ranking, one has to understand the driving force and resulting impact of the search engine’s page ranking? The page rank of the URL is in essence a function of all back links pointing to it. These back links come from inside and outside the domain.

Furthermore, pages are ranked based on a series of variables:

- Ranking Page Links

- Ranking Page PageRank

- Ranking Page In Title

- Ranking Page inText, etc.

Another goal of keyword searches is to ensure your domain is properly ranked. Variations on the key phrases one has selected within their domain can have a significant impact of your search engines’ optimization. Sometimes the first phrase that comes to mind isn’t the first one to come to the searcher’s mind. For instance, if you’re selling a technical product or one that involves technical jargon, a person may not relate to the terminology used within your domain.

4.2.3 Domain Ranking

Domains are ranked as follows:

- Ranking Domain Links

- Ranking Domain PageRank

- Ranking Domain Age

Following the above noted matrix guidelines will allow the search engine to be optimized for your Internet marketing campaign. You should start to measure the increasing return on your on-line marketing campaign’s investment.

Keep close tabs on key PPC (pay-per-click) metrics such as CTR (click-through-rate) and conversion rates by keyword, as well as quality score. Tweak your campaign by dialing down losers and boosting winners. The goal here isn’t only to gather data, but ideally to get conversions as well!

5.0 IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES

5.1 Evaluating New Technologies

Investing in the Search Engine Optimization strategies – information technology solution is an important part of staying competitive with potentially positive impacts on growth, risk, and online marketing outcomes. When evaluating new keyword techniques, there are several important issues the Business Analyst has to consider.

The project objective is to provide “personalized keywords” and the intersections between the emerging

fields and the electronic data records. This entails the planning for and executing projects to meet

business and target marketing objectives.

5.2 Business Analysis Project Scope:

Within the scope of the project the Business Analyst will examine the Search Engine Optimization -

information technology solution:

1. How the technology is utilized to mitigate key risk factors such as errors in keyword identification and delays in search report availability

2. What’s available and what’s on the in automation, including interfacing with processing devices as well as new labeling technologies

3. Integrating data from multiple sources into a single data record (inbound results)

4. Training – as new technologies emerge or become available, how do you build the necessary skill sets?

5.3 Target Marketing

Evolving Standards of Keyword Searches:

- Is the standard advancing in a particular field?

- Does the peer-reviewed literature and regulators support the advance?

- Do users and stakeholders expect the highest standard, and if so, what is the liability risk of not upgrading?

Search Engine Outcomes:

- What effect will the new technology have on keyword search outcomes?

- Will outcomes improve, stay the same, or worsen?

Workflow Efficiencies:

- What impact will the new technology have on workflow efficiencies?

- Will it increase capacity?

- What effects will it have on human resources in terms of increased revenue streams and return on investment?

- Will it improve operations?

- Can the technology be incorporated into a lean operation?

Differentiation:

- Does the technology allow you to stand out from other web sites?

- Is it a marketing differentiator?

5.4 Working with the Technology Partner:

Does the Search Engine Optimization – information technology solution have a proven implementation team that will analyze specific business needs and customize the solution to meet them?

5.5 Support Resources:

Does the Search Engine Optimization – information technology solution provide support resources for

marketing, training, and educational opportunities?

Greater accuracy is based on a statistically significant improvement in sensitivity and a statistically significant improvement in specificity of the individual marketing campaign. False-negative reduction is based on a statistically significant improvement in sensitivity.

5.6 Return on Investment:

Providing additional tests represents an improvement for keyword search results in terms of maximized access to your web site.

6.0 DELIVERABLES

Lets talk about how to secure guaranteed page one ranking on all search engines.
Step 1: Think of a business which is unique OR there should not be more than 10* companies offering the same service/product on internet.
Example: You are into selling leisure trip to middle income groups and want to sell cheap trips to Mars for USD 9,999 per person only.

*We are saying 10 because most of the search engines present 10 results on page one. So if there are more than 10 players in your industry – there is no guarantee that you will be definitely on page one of the search engines.
Step 2: Think of the target keywords for this business. It would be something like following examples:
1. “buy trip to mars for cheap”
2. “leisure trip to mars for cheap”
3. “fun trip to mars for cheap”
4. “family trip to mars for cheap”
5. “affordable trip to mars”
6. “affordable leisure trip to mars”
7. “affordable leisure trip to mars”
8. “enjoy trip to mars for cheap”
9. “cheap tickets to mars”
10. “affordable tickets for trip to mars”
***Try searching on google for any of the above listed keywords you will reach FATbit websiteJ See how easy Search Engine Optimization is!!!***
Step 3: Now you have to submit your website to all those search engines where you wish your visitors to come from.
Step 4: Make sure your website is search engine friendly so that search engines do respect you as a serious player in the industry else search engines might not like your website and don’t rank it among the leaders. How optimized your website is, proves your dedication and sincerity towards your business and your customers. Even search engines are intelligent enough to understand who are serious players and who are just fooling around.
If you follow all the above steps, we are sure you can get your website up on the page one of any search engine in the world.
Keep reading if you are not selling something unique and there are more than 10 companies offering same services/products on internet.
“Doing business on internet is very interesting and like a video game where you have to fight with endless number of enemies and YOU CAN NOT PAUSE THE GAME.”
To be successful on internet, make sure your website is highly search engine optimized so that you can keep your marketing costs low and sell your products/services at comparatively cheaper prices because your competitors are spending a lot on buying traffic for their website.
I hope you would not mind going through FUNDAMENTALS OF SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION. Read on:
1. What is Search Engine Optimization?
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results as opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion.

2. WHY SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION?
Getting your website live is not just enough, people should be able to reach your website by typing your company name or by typing the services/products offered by you. For search engines to display your website in the search results for relevant keywords, its foremost important that your website should be submitted to that search engine.

Imagine a situation you got a very nice website designed for USD 20,000 but that is not search engine optimized. You sell over 50,000 electronic products over that online shop but your website does not come up on search results on google.com or bing.com or yahoo.com when people are looking for websites where they can buy those products which are also being offered on your website.

Immediately make sure your website is submitted to all those search engines and meets the requirements of a very well search engine optimized website.

As described in the definition of Search Engine Optimization – primary objective behind SEO is to improve the volume of traffic to your website from search engines via organic and unpaid methods. Therefore to keep your advertising costs low its highly recommended that your website should be well optimized for search engines. Above all, you wanted your website designed and made live to public so that they can reach you when they are looking for the service/products you are offering.
3. What all objects are included in the arena of Search Engine Optimization?
a. Title Tag Optimization
b. Meta Tag Optimization
c. Keyword Tag Optimization
d. H1, H2, H3 optimization
e. URL relevance vis a vis page content
f. Keywords density on each page
g. Images alt tag optimization
h. W3C Validations
i. Clean HTML code preferably Div based HTML structured pages
j. Link optimization – including QUALITY back links and interlinking of pages within the website
4. White Hat SEO vs Black Hat SEO
a. White Hat SEO: includes designing and developing the website primarily for human users, not for search engines and then making that content easily accessible to the spiders instead of manipulating or playing tricks with the exposed search engine ranking algorithms.
b. Black Hat SEO: includes designing and developing the websites primarily for search engines while exploiting the search engine ranking algorithms. For Example:
i. hidden text either by using deceptive colors or by invisible DIV or positioned off the screen
ii. keywords stuffing in Title Tag, Description Tag and H1, H2 Tags
iii. stuffing keywords within file names
iv. cloaking – method employed to show different content to human visitors and search engine spiders
v. link farming etc
After going through the fundamentals of SEO, I am sure you have earned a reasonable amount of insight into the concept of Search Engine Optimization.
To make sure your website, no matter how competitive industry you work into, comes on page one of search engines – you have to follow the following steps or hire a professional SEO/Web Design Company company to take care of following imperatives for you.
1. Submit your website on major search engines
2. Select the target keywords/phrases carefully, intelligently & smartly.
a. Most common keywords related to your products/services will always be targeted by almost everyone selling the same services/products as you do.
b. Use keyword suggestion tools like the one offered by google or wordtracker to find less competitive keywords. It makes better business sense to bring in 100 visitors per day by targeting less competitive keywords/phrases than to win only 10 visitors per day by targeting only highly competitive keywords.
3. Make sure your website is highly optimized for the relevant and target keywords
4. Target one set of related keywords/phrases per page
5. Keep on analyzing your website performance for the target keywords/phrases and do the required revisions into the page content if satisfactory results are not achieved or you see that results can be improved.
6. Hire professional SEO company to take care of Link Building, Social Media Bookmarking, Article Submission, and Directory Submission for you.
7. Build child websites to promote the parent websites, be sure that child websites contain unique and relevant content, and are linking to parent website using the relevant keywords in the link text.
8. Give reasons to bloggers to comment about your company offerings/products on blogs, discussion forums, social networking websites and bookmarking websites thereby they are giving you quality back links. I.e. When apple launched ipad – they get more than billion dollar advertisements online via news portals, news channels, bloggers, discussion forums, electronic product experts, mobile device experts etc.
If your company can launch offers which are aimed at benefiting customers by giving them some useful product at very reasonable price people like to spread the words on their own by word of mouth (traditional way) and by blogging/sharing with friends online (electronic way).
